A WORLD OF IMPACT: 2024 KAB CHECK YOURSELF GLOBAL REPORT

THE KEEP A BREAST APP

As we reflect on the legacy of Keep A Breast, now in our 25th year of impact, our report highlights one of our wide-reaching programs making breast health education accessible for all: the KAB App, our free breast self-exam resource available in the Google Play store and Apple App store.

NEW APP USERS IN 2024

Welcome to the self-check revolution! KAB saw 7,600+ users make a commitment to a self-care routine and becoming their own breast health experts.

To-date, the KAB App has 55,200+ users worldwide, highlighting a growing consciousness of breast health knowledge and appreciation for this life-saving educational resource.

If you haven’t joined us on the KAB App, what are you waiting for? You can download the free app here.

TOP COUNTRIES USING OUR BREAST SELF-CHECK APP

🇫🇷 France Leads The Way: Nearly half of our KAB App users are based in France. With the app being offered in French, and our strong outreach to the French community through our KABEU team, app downloads are high in the country!

Additionally, most of our users are actually located in Europe, reflecting a higher awareness of breast health in the continent.

🇺🇸 U.S. Follows: The U.S. has the KAB App’s second-largest user base. With the app available in English, Spanish and French, this data reflects the effectiveness of our resources available in English including our partnership with telehealth provider Carbon Health here in the U.S.

🇲🇽 Viva México! The third largest amount of users are based in Mexico, where we are working to expand our partnerships among fellow breast cancer organizations and the medical community. We are proud to offer telehealth support to app users who find something abnormal during their self-exam through our amazing partners at FUCAM (Fundación de Cáncer de Mama).

SELF-CHECKS SAVE LIVES

Here are the numbers.

In just 2024, more than 21,200 people started a self-check session in the app, going through our interactive step-by-step breast self-check guide.

578 people found something abnormal while using the app and got in touch with a doctor through our telehealth partnerships. And that’s just people taking action in-app. We are so honored to have the KAB App play a part in potentially lifesaving early detection.

KAB IMPACT: INTERNATIONAL ON-THE-GROUND EFFORTS

Besides the growing usage of the KAB App, our organization ramped up efforts to build community, knowledge, and assist through life-saving care and consultations internationally.

KAB HUMANITARIAN WORK: AFRICA

Members of our KAB Global Team and medical professionals visited countries in Africa this year to provide medical training and breast health consultations. Paramedics and surgeons were trained to better meet the needs of women in each country, and four breast surgeries were performed by our humanitarian surgeon. Additionally, efforts continue to educate women in Africa through breast health workshops held in churches, hospitals, outdoor food markets, and schools.

SKATEBOARDING & SELF-CHECKS IN MEXICO CITY

We visited Mexico City and our KAB Mexico team in 2024 to build on our work with our partners Fundación Salvati and Fundación COI and cast some incredible women using their voices to spark change. We also had the opportunity to speak to  and educate several young women skaters and their families, sharing our message of prevention and early detection.

The impact of our work worldwide is so clear when we hear about the struggling healthcare system in Mexico and the taboos that remain around self-checks and talking about breast health.

As we celebrate 25 years of Keep A Breast’s impact, our 2024 Check Yourself! Global Report highlights the power of collective action in promoting breast health awareness. From the growing reach of the KAB App to on-the-ground efforts in Africa and beyond, our commitment to education, early detection, and community support remains unwavering. Together, we’re shaping a world where self-checks save lives and breast health is accessible for all.
